If you read my column last week you might have noticed I talk about this all the time. As a dermatologist, I have spent years researching the best ways to exfoliate. My results have been varied, but some things have worked, some things haven’t. For example, shaving with cotton or a beard trimmer can be effective.
In my own life, I’ve used a beard trimmer and shaving cream. Both are great, but I use a razor with a foam tip. I use a shaving brush attached to my razor handle. The brush can be used to clean the area being shaved, but not scrub. This means you can use a foam brush to exfoliate more deeply, or you can use your finger or a toothpick to scrub the area.
When it comes to shaving, I prefer a more direct approach in the shower, rather than through a towel. This is because I tend to have a lot of stubble on my face when I’m on vacation, and a towel would just be too slow.
I have a lot of stubble, as well. Some people swear by using a razor with a foam tip to clean the area. This is because it’s easier to get the area in the most perfect position when you’re using a foam razor.
I would say both options are valid. The key is finding the perfect location, so that the tip of the razor can reach the correct area without leaving any clumps of hair. I think a toothpick is a good choice for this, as it’s small enough to get under the skin and still leave the desired result.
I don’t think there is any single right way to exfoliate and I think everyone should start with just the area that needs it. Most people forget that we are all pretty different and not all of us need the same thing. When you need to exfoliate a certain area on your body, it is important to know what you are doing. I tend to exfoliate the face first, so as not to damage the skin underneath, but I do do my hair first.
If you think about it, you are exfoliating the area of the skin that is most sensitive. It doesn’t take much to cause irritation, so it is important to test how sensitive that is before you start exfoliating. You can often tell if someone has a sensitive skin by looking at their skin, and if their skin is easily irritated, then there is something wrong with them.
We often think about the things that we do when we are young and how we developed our sense of self-consciousness. As we grow older we develop more self-awareness, and thus more self-consciousness.
If something is sensitive it is important to have people around you who can tell if there is a problem. If you are going to be around a lot with someone who has sensitive skin, ask to be let out of the room and they will usually get you in a room with a mirror. People with sensitive skin can be a real pain, and we have to learn to be a lot more patient in order to be able to let them go.
I think people with sensitive skin are sometimes confused about what self-consciousness actually means. It can’t be the feeling of being self-conscious, because that would be the same thing as feeling self-involved, and that’s not what it means. Self-consciousness is the feeling you feel when you know something important about yourself, but you are afraid to admit. When you are self-aware you are aware that you know something important about yourself.
