I just don’t have a lot of faith that technology is always following the scientific method. I think we are often taught that things are “just technology” and that we are the ones who are responsible for taking care of technology.
I don’t know if you’ve ever heard the phrase “technology follows science” but if you have, it’s very important to realize that it doesn’t. Technology follows science when it’s about putting together something to do or to accomplish. But even then, the scientists who create the technology are not necessarily the ones who have to care about the technology and be the ones who create it.
A bit of science can take a long time to create a technology that can be used. For example, the invention of the wheel and the invention of the automobile took many years. And that took a lot of people who worked very hard to create the technology. But as technology continues to improve in the future, the role of men in that technology may change. The invention of the internet, for example, took a long time to create the technology.
I think technology is going to follow science because technology always follows science. For example, the invention of the steam engine took a long time to create the technology. And the invention of the electric light bulb took a long time to create the technology. And the invention of the internet took a long time to create the technology. And that’s why the invention of the smartphone took a long time to create the technology. And the invention of the tablet took a long time to create the technology.
Technological progress is one of the few truly natural processes that humans can control, and because of that we’ve made it possible for people to create tools that they never would have been able to have without the technology. But we’ve also made it possible for people to destroy the process by creating tools that they never would have been able to have without the technology. Think of the Internet as a self-replicating machine that we can control.
In a way, this is similar to the way technology has been used to destroy the natural world in the past. As technology has grown, so too have its destructive side effects. We live in an age where the tools and technology in the world today are far more advanced than they were in the early 20th century. Our technological advancements often cause the destruction of the natural world.
In this day and age, we would be wise to take the time to think about the impact technology has on the natural world.
